The manufacturing equipment and the process itself is also very much more expensive for welded products. All manufacturers weld the outer frame and vent sections but some then mechanically joint the transoms and mullions.

All other factors being equal, you should go for products with welded joints. Make sure that they are fully welded, i.e., no mechanical joints at all.
Bude Windows & Conservatories only supply products with welded joints.

Bude Windows & Conservatories are committed to Environmental issues and all glass and frames are recycled where possible by a specialist Company.
We can supply PVCu frames in 15 different colours and aluminium in excess of 180 colours.
The frame you choose will depend on your home and your personal taste. For all frame materials there are windows available in each energy rating.
PVCu frames are the most common type. They last a long time and can be recycled.
Wooden frames can have a lower environmental impact, but require maintenance. They are often used in conservation areas where the original windows were timber framed.
Aluminium or steel frames are slim and long-lasting. They can be recycled.
Always use an installer who is a member of a Trade Association.
This has two benefits: Firstly, it will protect your consumer rights and secondly it will ensure that the company replacing your windows and doors is competent to do the job.
Go to the Glass and Glazing Federation who can provide details of installers at your location.
Look for a proven track record in the industry, a ten year guarantee is not worth the paper it is written on if the Company will not be trading in the foreseeable future.
